little black book.
i put a lot of stock into the randomness of things that happen. i feel like things happen for a reason, there’s no randomness about it^. there’s a reason i watched this movie. out of all the movies on netflix, i picked this one. and i got the answer i was looking for, just in this one scene.
to give background information. Stacy happens to get ahold of her boyfriend’s palm pilot, and finds out all types of stuff about her boyfriend and his exes. she works as a producer on a tv show, and ends up contacting all of these exes, and conning them into an interview. well at one point, joyce (one of the exes) and stacy are hanging out, and theyre walking along the street.
Stacy narrates, “We stood there. Both of us, sadly in love with the same man. Both of us feeling let down by him.”
Then, there is some random talking, and Joyce finally breaks down. She says, “It’s just… talking to you lately and seeing lulu—all that stuff just brought up such bad memories, and who am i trying to kid, ya know? A clean break is easier. You can reset it and it heals and you move on… but if you leave things messy or things dont get put right, then it just hurts. Forever. It’s really time for me to move away from him, from all this.. I dont even know who he is anymore.”
